IVEXSI CERTIFICATION FRAMEWORK

Professional Certification for Vertical Engineering

1. Purpose of the Certification

The IVEXSI Professional Certification Framework establishes the criteria, processes and governance required to certify professionals qualified to operate within the discipline of Vertical Engineering, as defined and standardized by the International Vertical Expansion Standardization Institute (IVEXSI).

The certification aims to:

  • Ensure professional competence in decision engineering for vertical expansion of existing buildings

  • Promote technical rigor, accountability and ethical responsibility

  • Create an internationally consistent reference for qualified professionals

  • Protect society, assets and the built environment from unstructured or improvised decisions

IVEXSI certifies professionals, not projects, companies or constructions.

2. Scope of Certification

The IVEXSI certification applies exclusively to licensed professionals operating in the technical domain of vertical expansion decision-making, including:

  • Civil Engineers

  • Structural Engineers

  • Architects

  • Technical specialists formally responsible for structural and decision processes

The certification does not:

  • Approve designs or projects

  • Validate executed works

  • Replace local professional licensing

  • Authorize construction activities

3. Certification Philosophy

IVEXSI certification is based on the principle that:

The greatest risk in vertical expansion lies in the decision taken before design and execution.

Accordingly, certification focuses on:

  • Structured technical reasoning

  • Interpretation of standards and constraints

  • Professional judgment and responsibility

  • Ethical conduct and accountability

It is not an academic exam, nor a training diploma.

4. Certification Levels

  • Maintains separation between certification and training

No external entity may influence certification decisions.

10. Use of Certification Designation

Certified professionals may use the official designation:

Use of titles, seals and references is subject to IVEXSI rules and may be revoked in case of misuse.

11. Legal and Institutional Disclaimer

IVEXSI certification:

  • Does not replace statutory professional licensing

  • Does not assume legal responsibility for projects or works

  • Confirms professional qualification within the IVEXSI normative framework

12. Evolution of the Framework

This Certification Framework is a living institutional document and may be revised, expanded or updated as the discipline of Vertical Engineering evolves.
